Georgia Northwestern Bobcats In 10th Place After 1st Round In Montgomery

Monday, November 13, 2017 - by Scott Herpst

Eighteen holes into the 2017 Central Alabama Community College Trojan Invitational in Montgomery, Al., and the Georgia Northwestern Bobcats have quite a bit of ground to make up on most of the rest of the pack.

The Bobcats had three scores in the 70's in Monday's first round, but had to count a score in the 90's and find themselves in 10th place out 14 teams in the field.

Branton Bailey navigated the 6,979-yard layout at the Wynlakes Golf Club with a 2-over par 74, which tied him for 10th place in the individual standings. Cole Roberts and David Manis each shot a 79, good to tie them both for 28th place.

However, Lane Strickland and Adrian Clark both struggled in the first round. Strickland had a 91 (T-71st) and Clark carded a 93 (75th) and the Bobcats were forced to count Strickland's score, giving them a 18-hole total of 323.

A trio of Alabama schools lead the way going into Tuesday's final round.

Calhoun (Ala.) C.C. is in first place with a 6-over par total of 294, followed by Wallace State C.C. at 301 and Central Alabama, the host school, with a 306.

Individually, only three players finished the round under par. Wallace State's Brandon Lacasse set the pace with a 5-under 67 on Monday. He is one shot ahead of Calhoun's Sam Murphy (68) and two clear of Ryan Graybar of Cape Fear (N.C.) C.C. (69).

Tomorrow's final round will mark the end of the fall season for the Bobcats.

Randy Smith: Calling Out The Media

Since I have been a member of the Sports Media for close to a half-century, I feel obligated to call them out when I see or hear something wrong. That was the case yesterday as Tennessee's Jeremy Pruitt took the podium at the SEC Media Days in Atlanta. It seems that former Georgia players Aaron Murray and David Pollack accused Pruitt of being disrespectful to former Georgia coach ... (click for more)

Lookouts Open Series In Mobile Wednesday With 4-2 Win Over BayBears

MOBILE, Ala. --- When the Chattanooga Lookouts pitching staff digs in it's heels it means that a couple of home runs added in last night was good enough for a 4-2 win over Mobile. Am I Alone? - And Response (5)

Am I alone seems to be quite apt as I begin to form sentences, thoughts and concerns regarding the state of this country. I feel like I am alone trying, somehow, to justify Trump and understand why he is constantly in the middle of chaos.  Now coined as the Liar-in-Chief, Chief Foreign Affairs Coordinator acting for his pal Russian Dictator, Putin.  The silence ...
