Puckett's Gro. Celebrates First Responders This Holiday Season

Tuesday, December 12, 2017
Puckett’s Gro. & Restaurant, 2 W Aquarium Way in downtown Chattanooga, will host a “First Responders Family Meal” from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 24, allowing those who will be on duty for Christmas Day an opportunity to celebrate the holiday with their loved ones.

All first responders and their families are invited to attend the special meal at the Southern eatery, featuring a buffet of holiday favorites like smoked ham and turkey, cornbread dressing, sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes, gravy and peach cobbler this Christmas Eve.

Foster Yates, Puckett’s general manager, said that the restaurant serves local firefighters, EMTs, police officers and sheriff’s deputies on a regular basis, and the staff members have gotten to know them well.

“Puckett’s Chattanooga is thankful for our first responders and the sacrifices they make daily to keep our community safe,” Mr. Yates said. “We realize that these folks are not always able to enjoy the holiday season with their families due to work obligations, so we wanted to do something special for them this year.”

The cost for the meal is $13.99 for adults and $6.99 for children 12 and under. First responders who present their badges, proper IDs or come in uniform will receive their meal for half price ($7).

Puckett’s will be open from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. on Christmas Eve, serving its regular menu, breakfast buffet from 8 a.m.-11 a.m., and the holiday buffet from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The holiday buffet is open to the public as well as first responders, and reservations can be made by calling the restaurant at 423-708-8505.

Drink Up, Chattanooga

I attended the meeting to discuss the placement of the sewage treatment plant at the Cambridge Center in Ooltewah today. My problem with the meeting (aka) dog and pony show, is that the meeting started out with the agenda of the Ooltewah Community Council.  After living in this area for 45+ years I have never heard of this group.  I would like for someone to answer ... Roy Exum: Dear Faux Pelini

It has been my experience that of all the tribes and herds of different people on earth, sports writers are among the funniest people of all. Oh, there isn’t anything real sexy about Villanova beating Georgetown or a baseball player hitting for the cycle. Now, if a player hits a single, double, triple and homer in that order, that’s “a natural cycle,” and that is kind of fun to ... (click for more)
