BlueCross Receives Toastmasters Corporate Recognition Award

Toastmasters International recognized BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee for enhancing employee engagement through its continuing support of the Toastmasters program. BlueCross sponsors two Toastmasters clubs, where employees meet to develop and strengthen their communication and leadership skills in a supportive setting with their coworkers.

The award was presented by Lark Doley, president of Toastmasters International, during a ceremony held at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee headquarters in downtown Chattanooga.

“BlueCross has done an amazing job using the program we offer to develop its employees in communication and leadership,” said Ms. Doley as she presented the honors.

Toastmasters' communication and leadership teaches BlueCross employees how to:
 
Conduct effective meetings;
Practice time management;
Enhance their listening skills;
Sharpen their presentation skills;
Boost team collaboration; and
Guide successful teams.

“Good communication and leadership skills are essential to the success of all the top performers within our company,” said BlueCross Vice President of Human Resources Gary Steele. “We appreciate how Toastmasters helps our employees build those skills in a way that promotes both personal and professional growth, and we are honored to receive this prestigious award.”

ALDI Opens First Signal Mountain Store

ALDI will open its first grocery store in Signal Mountain as part of a $3.4 billion investment to expand to 2,500 stores nationwide by the end of 2022. Federal Judge In Nashville Tells State To Halt Suspension Of Drivers Licenses Of Those Who Cannot Pay

 A Nashville federal judge has directed that the state halt suspension of the drivers licenses of people who cannot afford to pay fines and court costs. Police Arrest Man On Multiple Car Break-Ins At Signal View Apartments

Police said they arrested a man on multiple car break-ins at the Signal View Apartments on Mountain Creek Road. Maurice Flanigan is charged with three counts of burglary and three counts of theft of property. I attended the meeting to discuss the placement of the sewage treatment plant at the Cambridge Center in Ooltewah today.
