CPD Cadet Community Immersion Project Presentation Will Be Thursday

Wednesday, July 18, 2018

Chief of Police David Roddy and the 2018-2 Cadet Class will host a Community Immersion Project presentation Thursday at 4:15 p.m. at the Camp House.

Cadets have spent over 50 hours (the equivalent of an entire college semester course) interviewing community members, compiling video, and gathering off-camera comments with community leaders and community members.

The Chattanooga Police Department developed the Community Immersion Project in response to community expectations of a more organic, dynamic and unfiltered method of learning about the community. The project is designed to immerse future police officers in specific Chattanooga cultures, to learn directly from the community about that culture and then to teach us – the community and each other – about that specific culture in Chattanooga, said officials.

Here is the schedule:

4:15 p.m. -  Welcome/Introduction
4:40-5:10 p.m. Intellectually & Developmentally Disabled & Mental Health Consumers Community
5:20-5:50 p.m. Hispanic & Muslim Communities
6-6:30 p.m. African American Community

The Camp House is at 149 E. Martin Luther King Blvd.

Why Are Joda Thongnopnua And Phil Bredesen Downplaying Their Democratic Values?

For the past several months, the Democratic Party has reached a tipping point. “Their Resistance” is to oppose anything and everything Republicans are doing to deliver a stronger economy and better economic opportunities for all Americans.  Yet, I find it very interesting that the public outcry we are seeing from the Democrats on a national level is nowhere to be found when ...
