"Stock Their Lockers: Providing School Supplies For Kids In Need" Program Kicks Off Monday

Thursday, July 19, 2018
The Samaritan Center’s Stock Their Lockers, a program that allows students kindergarten through 12th grade to receive a backpack-full of school supplies, will kick off Monday with a special visit from Stewart Payne and his Readmobile from Read 20.

Mr. Payne will spend time reading to children in the Center’s Farrow Community Corner, now transformed into a Dr. Seuss-themed school supply store. As Mr. Payne reads to younger children, their siblings will “shop” for their favorite colors and styles of the supplies from their school supply list.

On July 26 and 31, the Kids on the Block puppet team will be at the Center to entertain and educate Stock Their Locker students. Their performances will begin at 1 p.m. on July 26 and 11 a.m. on July 31.

In 2017, the Samaritan Center provided supplies for 339 kids. This year, the goal is to help 350, officials said.

The program runs from July 23 through Aug. 14. Appointments can be scheduled Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
